Happy Saturday, world! Today, as we sip our morning coffee (or tea, or whatever your caffeinated beverage of choice is), let’s take a moment to appreciate the absurdity of existence.

 

A Quick Trip Down Memory Lane

Today in history, in 1836, Michigan traded Ohio the Toledo strip for the Upper Peninsula. Michigan definitely got the better deal in that exchange! Sorry Ohio.

 

A Famous Birthday

And today, we celebrate the 78th birthday of Joyce Vincent-Wilson, born on December 14th in Detroit. She is best known best known as part of the group Tony Orlando and Dawn. She was later in Former Ladies of the Supremes, despite not being a member of the vocal group, although, she was considered to be the replacement for Mary Wilson of The Supremes in 1977.

Now for a random thought to spice up your day: I’ve noticed that the more complicated technology gets, the simpler our problems become. We used to worry about world hunger and nuclear war. Now, we’re stressed about our Wi-Fi connection. Progress, I guess?!

 

Did you know that there’s a specific phobia for the fear of long words? It’s called Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. Try saying that ten times fast.
