Spring Fever Is Real and We’ve Got It Bad

It’s official. We’re done with winter.

The snow has turned into slush. The slush has turned into mud. And we’ve all turned into grumpy groundhogs who never wanted to leave the comfort of fleece blankets and hot chocolate. But now, with a glimmer of sun and warmer temps, the human spirit stirs again.

Have you stepped outside lately? Birds are tweeting — not the online kind — and the breeze doesn’t try to murder your face anymore. That first warm-ish day of spring shows up, and suddenly everyone is outside in flip-flops, squinting at the sky like a colony of confused meerkats.

Some will even wore shorts today at 58 degrees. We are unhinged.

Goodbye Snow Shovels, Hello Daffodils

There’s a strange ritual this time of year. We throw our snow shovels into the garage like we’re banishing a demon. Salt bags? Forgotten. Ice scrapers? Entombed in the trunk, never to be seen again (until we panic in October).

We’re planting things we will immediately forget to water. Window boxes get a glow-up. And the local hardware store becomes a pilgrimage site for lawn chairs, seed packets, and that one guy asking, “Is this grass feed gluten-free?”

We are reborn. Pale, vitamin D-deprived, slightly sneezy — but reborn.

Hope Springs Eternal (Along With the Pollen)

Sure, our cars are about to turn yellow with pollen. Yes, the squirrels have returned with zero respect for personal space. And okay, maybe we already spotted one confused mosquito.

But still. It’s spring.

It’s time for sunshine, the scent of fresh mulch, and awkwardly pretending to enjoy jogging outdoors again. Time for garden centers, iced coffee, and collectively deciding that yes, we are definitely “outdoorsy” people now.

Let’s soak it in — before we start whining about the heat.

Random Musings

  • Why is it still too cold in the morning but too hot by noon?
  • And why do tulips bloom for exactly 12 minutes before giving up?

We’ve survived another winter, folks. Barely. But now, it’s time to sun our pasty selves and embrace the muddy, bloomy chaos of spring.

Bring on the sunshine—and the Claritin.
