Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to meet several celebrities from music, television and film. I have a list of a few that I would still love to some day meet. One of the people on that list is Dick Van Dyke!
I grew up watching him on “The Dick Van Dyke Show” on TV. Most recently he was on television in the “Diagnosis Murder” series.
And then there were his movies: “Bye Bye Birdie”, “Mary Poppins”, and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”.
Dick is now 90 years old. Earlier this year I found a video online of a flash mob that showed up to perform for Dick on his 90th birthday. The video was from last December in Los Angeles. Mr. Van Dyke even joins in at the end of the video…
Shortly after that video surfaced, ABC TV aired “The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60th”. At the end of a production number of “Step In Time”, Dick shows up to finished up the song with the group. At 90 he can still dance and keep up with the younger guys…
And now it appears Dick is performing at Denny’s! He was recently having breakfast at a Denny’s in Santa Monica, CA along with a barbershop group called “The Vantastix”. The group breaks out singing the theme song from “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”. How fun would it be to see Dick Van Dyke at Denny’s…and then have him then start singing! What a awesome experience for everyone in the restaurant. I could only be so lucky…
Dick, let’s do breakfast at Denny’s sometime soon! I’ll buy!!!
