I’ve gotten a lot of requests for this audio over the years.
Back in the day we didn’t have a good way to archive audio. It was just too expensive to keep a recording of everything. Some shows were recorded a cassette. Later we used digital audio tape but it would cost about $20 for every show to be saved so we had to pick and choose the audio that we kept.
Yanos was our Czechoslovakian friend who would call from Hastings. He always had a great story to tell.
We originally met Yanos (Rick’s spelling of his name — I think it was actually Janos) when he ruined the microwave his job. He had heard Darla read a story about how you could fix bad golf balls by putting them in the microwave to soften them up (NOT a good idea!). Janos tried this at work and the golf ball ended up exploding and wrecking the microwave. It was an hilarious story, but unfortunately no audio of that exists.
The best I can find is Yanos telling the story of his poor parakeet named Moose.
We never really knew if Yanos’ stories were true or not. In this case I’m hoping it was just a story and didn’t really happen, but nonetheless just hearing him tell the story is funny.
We aren’t really sure what happened to Yanos. We had heard he had moved to Florida sometime in the late 1990s or early 2000s, but we have never heard from him after that. If anyone knows of his whereabouts, please let me know. I’d love to get in contact with him.
OK, here is the story of Yanos’s poor parakeet named Moose…
