1 Year Warranty: Don’t Ever Use Product!

1 Year Warranty… oh really?!

I have gone camping for many years. And by camping I mean in a tent, with sleeping bags, no electric, and no dish TV!

It’s time for a few creature comforts at my age…so I’ve decided I needed to add an inflatable air mattress to my camping ensemble.

Oh I’ve had these types of devices before. I’ve purchased them for when guests would come to stay at the house. After about a year’s time, they usually all spring a leak somewhere. A leak that is IMPOSSIBLE to find, let alone patch. And most had a power cord for the pump… so they certainly weren’t very convenient if camping somewhere with no power.

So I searched around online to find a good “inflatable bed” to use for camping. I checked all the major brands — even the companies that specialized in camping supplies. The hardest thing to find was an air mattress with a rechargeable pump.

I finally found what I needed. It was classified as a “Camp Bed/Pool Float”. I figured with this product being used for either of those activities, hopefully the bed would have a little better construction and not develop that pesky leak after exactly 365 days. I decided I might as well go ahead and order my newest piece of camping equipment.

The package was dropped off by the delivery man today. I felt like a little kid at Christmas! Of course I couldn’t wait to open it up and take a look at it. I will admit the material looks a little more durable than some of the vinyl mattresses I have had in the past.

I began to look over the paper work and saw that it also came with a 1 year warranty against any “defects in materials and workmanship for one year from date of purchase”. Awesome! So if it does spring a leak… it’s going back.

Well maybe not…

There is an exclusion for the guarantee. It says the warranty shall not apply if “the product is used for other than normal indoor sleeping purposes”.

Keep in mind I ordered a product that was called a “Camp Bed/Pool Float”, but yet it can only be used for “normal INDOOR sleeping purposes” or the warranty is void. So in other words the warranty remains good if I never take the product out of the box and never use it!

Gee, what a helpful warranty!
