“Random Thoughts” for Wednesday, July 1st, 2020
Look at that…it’s July 1st! TIme to change the calendar. (Does anyone even use a calendar anymore?)
There are a lot of things on my mind today, let’s jump into some “Random Thoughts” for Wednesday…
WEST MICHIGAN WHITECAPS SEASON CANCELLED
I know a lot of people were waiting for a date that the West Michigan Whitecaps could begin their 27th season.
We received that answer via Major League Baseball on Tuesday. They posted on Twitter…

That means there will be NO 27th season for the Whitecaps this year at Fifth Third Ballpark. If we want to see a great minor league baseball game, we are going to have to wait until 2021. Very sad news indeed. I was hoping to get in a few Whitecaps games this summer.
Once again, 2020 is becoming the year of the coronavirus and nothing else.
“OZARK” WILL BE BACK!
I know a lot of us watched “Ozark” on Netflix to help pass the time while we were stuck at home this spring and summer.
We completed watching all three seasons and are anxiously waiting word on whether there would be a fourth season or not.
Good news! Netflix has finally confirmed that season four is coming, but it will be the final season of “Ozark”. The final season will be split in half, giving us a jam-packed send-off for the Byrde family. (It looks like they are going to do seven episodes, then take a break and then come back with another seven episodes. I guess we could look at this as a very shortened 4th and 5th season, instead of one long 4th season with a break in the middle!)
In an interview, Jason Bateman revealed that each episode takes around eleven days to film with two weeks beforehand to prep. In all, it’s around six months of production to film an entire season.
No word on when Season 4 will be available on Netflix. But, at least we have something to look forward to!

YOUTUBE TV JACKS UP PRICES
For many people that have decided to “cut the cord” on their cable, there was YouTube TV as an alternative.
The streaming service offered up pretty much the same channels that most cable systems offered, for a cheaper price of about $50 a month.
Yesterday, YouTube TV announced a price increase. It’s a pretty steep increase at that — 30%. Their new monthly rate will be $65 a month. Ouch!
I have YouTube TV and I love their service and line up, but a 30% increase is pretty tough to swallow, especially for a lot of people who may have been laid off or lost their jobs due to the coronavirus.
I may be shopping for a new provider for my TV viewing.
TALK ABOUT IRONY
In an article on The Blaze website, over the weekend, a video of a police officer went viral. In that video, an unidentified police officer explains that he was called to provide security for protesters.
The officer explained, that the protesters requested police presence for a…wait for it…”defund the police” rally.

We have no way of knowing which police agency this man works for, but what a joke…that protestors who want to defund the police, are asking for the police to protect them for their safety!
LET’S GO SWIMMING
With the warm temperatures, maybe people are looking for a pool to cool off.
One idiot decided to literally swim with the fishes!

26-year-old Kevin Wise of Louisiana walked into a Bass Pro store and jumped into the 13,000 gallon fish tank for a swim. After a few minutes, he then climbed out and ran out of the store. He was arrested. He explained that it was a TikTok stunt that he had promised to do for receiving 2000 likes.
The store says it now needs to empty and clean the tank. This is not the first time that something like this has happened…last month, on Mother’s Day, a 27-year-old Florida man went for a swim in the Bass Pro Shop aquarium after revealing his plans on social media.

I know it’s hard to believe, but we have officially made it halfway through 2020!
A LOOK BACK
On this date in 1909, Thomas Edison began commercially manufacturing his new “A” type alkaline storage batteries.
So I was just thinking, we have “A”, “C”, and “D” size batteries. What ever happened to “B” size?
