Random Thoughts for Tuesday, January 7th, 2020

It’s Tuesday, let me get my brain engaged…

NEED SOME NEW FURNITURE?

If you need a new bed or maybe a TV you are in luck. It will be a road trip for you though…

Soaring Eagle Hotel in Mt. Pleasant, MI is selling TVs, beds and more for $5 each in a liquidation sale. They have an even better price on smaller items like luggage racks and trash cans… they are available for free.

The sale is open to the general public beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 7. The event will take place in the ballrooms at Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort, 6800 Soaring Eagle Boulevard in Mount Pleasant.

The items priced at just $5 each include: televisions, king- and queen-size beds with frames, headboards, box springs and mattresses included, chairs, desks, mirrors, five-piece dining sets, lamps, refrigerators, safes, entry tables, nightstands, microwaves, armoires, sofa sleepers, and wall art.

Here is the schedule for the sale:

Tuesday, January 7th, 2020 – 10 am- 6 pm
Wednesday, January 8th, 2020 – 10 am-4 pm
Monday, January 13th through Wednesday, January 15th, 2020 – 10 am-6 pm
Thursday, January 16th, 2020 – 10 am-4 pm

The first two hours of each day are open to tribal members only, then open to tribal members, SECR associates and the general public.

It’s weird how the thought of buying a used mattress kind of freaks me out, however going to stay in a hotel and sleeping on a mattress that many other people have slept on doesn’t bother me as much. I do however like to bring my own pillow when sleeping in a hotel.

ANOTHER STORY FROM FLORIDA

The state of Florida has been on a roll when it comes to weird news stories. Here is another one…

Police were called to a home in Lake Worth, FL after a neighbor called them to report hearing a woman screaming for help last week.

When deputies arrived they discovered that the “woman” was actually a parrot named Rambo.

The man was changing the brakes on his wife’s car and had the 40-year-old parrot on his outside perch. The bird’s owner said that Rambo sometimes yells “help, help, let me out”. The man explained that “[It’s] something I taught him when I was a kid and Rambo lived in a cage.”

The owner has introduced the neighbor to Rambo after the situation, and all had a good laugh over the incident.

MASKED BANDITS CAUGHT ON VIDEO

Here is a video that will put a smile on your face.

There were a couple of masked bandits wandering around a home. The homeowner caught them on video…

I love the reaction from the second raccoon!

Enjoy your Tuesday. Stay healthy. (Wash those hands!!) I will talk to you this afternoon from 3-7 pm on 98.7 WFGR.

I’ve always been the kind of person who notices the things other people overlook — strange roadside attractions, forgotten pieces of history, interesting places, odd trends, and the little things in everyday life that make you laugh and say, “Wait... when did that become normal?” This blog is where I share those discoveries. Some days you might learn something fascinating from history. Other days I’ll take you along on a road trip, share a weird story from Michigan’s past, or simply rant about something in modern life that makes absolutely no sense. No matter what, my goal is simple: keep things interesting!
