This blog is where I share those discoveries.
Some days you might learn something fascinating from history. Other days I’ll take you along on a road trip, share a weird story from Michigan’s past, or simply rant about something in modern life that makes absolutely no sense.

Misheard Lyrics: Mountin’ Mamma
Country music singer John Denver died in an experimental aircraft accident on October 12, 1997. Because of his death, he was a topic of discussion on “The Rick and Scott Show”. It was during this discussion that I revealed how I had misheard (and been told by friends on the playground) the lyrics to John Denver’s song “Take Me Home Country Roads”. (READ MORE)

ArtPrize 8: One of my favorites didn’t even get close to winning…
ArtPrize 8 is now in the history books. The final winners were announced on Friday, October 7th, 2016. Overall, I would pretty much agree with at least the public vote. The juried winners usually always leaving me scratching my head!
One of my favorites this year — among many — was a 3D sculpture piece called “Embrace”. It was on display at the DeVos Place Convention Center on the second floor. (READ MORE)
Hurricane Chasing — Almost!
It looks like hurricane “Matthew” will be causing a few problems for Florida and the eastern coast of the United States. Part of me really would love to be down there to see this weather phenomenon in person. Then there is a part of me that says it’s too dangerous and I’m too old to be chasing hurricanes! (READ MORE)
