I saw a headline the other day that made me laugh out loud.
The government is putting restrictions on certain robotic vacuums over national security concerns.
Now, don’t get me wrong.
I’m all for protecting national security.
But…
Have you ever actually owned a robot vacuum?
Because I have.
And if that’s the machine that’s supposed to overthrow civilization…
I think we’re going to be okay.
🤖 Meet Our New Overlords
Let’s just imagine for a second that robot vacuums really do go rogue.
The uprising begins.
Millions of robot vacuums leave their charging docks and head into the streets.
Within thirty minutes…
the invasion comes to a complete stop because half of them need to recharge.
The other half are trapped under someone’s couch.
🪑 Natural Enemies
If you’ve owned one, you know these things already struggle with everyday obstacles.
Chair legs.
Throw rugs.
Phone charging cables.
A sock.
Sometimes…
absolutely nothing.
Mine has gotten confused by a perfectly flat floor before.
🚪 The Great Escape
Even if a robot vacuum somehow escaped your house…
Good luck getting very far.
One curb.
Game over.
One flight of stairs.
Mission failed.
One puddle.
We’ll remember its service.
🔋 Battery Life
People are worried about these things gathering information.
I’m more worried about whether mine can finish cleaning the living room before it starts beeping for help.
Half the time mine announces:
“Returning to charging dock.”
Translation:
“I’ve vacuumed approximately fourteen square feet. I’m exhausted.”
🕵️ The Secret Intelligence Mission
Imagine a robot vacuum sent to spy on America.
Mission briefing:
“Gather sensitive information.”
Thirty-five minutes later…
“I regret to inform you that I’ve become tangled in a phone charger and require immediate assistance.”
😄 The Real Threat
Honestly…
The biggest danger my robot vacuum has ever posed is convincing me the floor was clean…
while leaving one mysterious Cheerio sitting in the middle of the room.
Every.
Single.
Time.
🤔 Final Thoughts
Maybe there are legitimate reasons for these new restrictions.
I’ll leave that discussion to people much smarter than me.
But I have a hard time believing the biggest threat to our country is a machine that routinely loses a fight with an area rug.
😄 Closing Line
If the robot uprising ever begins…
I’ll be safe.
I’ll just scatter a handful of LEGO bricks and charging cables across the floor.
